Technical Capacity and Advanced Avionics Architecture

The HÜRKUŞ-2 project took shape within the framework of a comprehensive contract signed between the Defence Industry Agency and TAI. In the first phase of the massive project involving the procurement of 55 aircraft, 2 aircraft were delivered to the Air Force Command. It is planned to complete the shipment of 10 more aircraft by the end of the year, with the remaining platforms distributed to operational bases by 2028. Extensive effort was dedicated during the design and development processes of the aircraft to optimize structural weight and maximize aerodynamic performance. As a result of these engineering efforts, HÜRKUŞ-2 has become one of the platforms with the highest aerobatic and maneuver capability in its class.

One of the greatest force multipliers of the HÜRKUŞ program is that its cockpit architecture is designed to be compatible with other strategic air platforms in the inventory. When student pilots complete their basic and advanced training and transition to the jet phase, they will encounter the same operational and avionics logic in the cockpits of HÜRJET and the national combat aircraft KAAN. This holistic approach minimizes pilot transition costs while significantly accelerating training progression workflows. Successfully completing approximately 23,000 hours of ground, laboratory, and system integration tests, the aircraft possesses the versatility to perform light attack and close air support missions in addition to its primary basic training capabilities.

Certification Success and Global Market Goals

The operational competence of HÜRKUŞ-2 has also been legally and technically verified. As a result of rigorous evaluations conducted by the Certification Board composed of experts from the Defence Industry Agency and the Air Force Command, the aircraft qualified to receive Turkey's First National Military Type Certificate. Across activities conducted in 12 different disciplines, 1,790 requirements were verified, 950 compliance documents were reviewed, and 153 rigorous certification tests were successfully executed. This certificate officially proved the platform's maturity under international aviation standards.

The HÜRKUŞ family has already proven itself in the international market with the HÜRKUŞ-B configuration. Having signed export contracts with 3 different countries to date demonstrates the platform's competitive strength in the global market. With the induction of HÜRKUŞ-2, equipped with next-generation capabilities, into the inventory, new international sales contracts are expected to be signed in the near future, adding another item to the Turkish defense industry's export portfolio.
