The Greek press gave extensive coverage to the successful shot of the MKE PİRANA Kamikaze Unmanned Naval Vehicle in the Denizkurdu-I/2026 exercise on its agenda.

In the exercise scenario, the target at sea was detected by the BAYKAR-made KALKAN UAV, and then the MKE PİRANA KİDA, which received the location information, destroyed the target with a 100 kg warhead. The news, which also caught the attention of the Greek press, was featured in the headlines.

Pronews, HappenedNow and OnAlert, Greece-based news sites, drew attention to the fact that PİRANA made a test shot with a real warhead while mentioning the platform. It was stated that a new step was taken in improving the capabilities of the Turkish Navy.

Pronews reported that PİRANA hit its target at sea, while noting that the system was developed with a low-cost and effective solution approach.

While mentioning the success of the test on HappenedNow, it was emphasized that PİRANA KİDA can work in swarm and evade enemy radars.

Greece, which had previously featured PİRANA KİDA in its press, had used the title "Mortal Danger For Our Ships".

PİRANA Standing Out with Its Capabilities

PİRANA KİDA has a maximum speed of over 40 knots and a range of over 200 nautical miles. The platform, which uses a waterjet propulsion system with a diesel engine, can be remotely controlled via RF and SATCOM communication infrastructure, as well as being used in autonomous mission mode.

According to the information shared by MKE, PİRANA made a precise hit on the target, which is approximately 3.5 meters in length, in the test conducted. The platform features a high-explosive warhead and a precise guidance system.
